RESPONSIBILITY - SAFETY & HYGIENE

Nancy Kartoon believes in responsibility. She is fully insured by Specialty Insurance Agency with a policy that is accepted by fairs and festivals, trade shows and business events. Don’t trust your name, livelihood and family to an uninsured entertainer. A copy of my insurance can be made available upon request for events requiring documentation. Client reference also available upon request.

When you are looking to book someone to entertain at your party or event, it is in your best interest as a mom or event planner, to make sure you are dealing with a face painter who uses safe products and has safe hygienic practices. Always ask if they have public liability insurance and references.

Many hobbyists and non-professional cheek art face painters use potentially dangerous products and are generally uninsured. NANCY KARTOON and other professional face painters try to educate the public on the potential dangers of using acrylic and other craft paints instead of professional grade FDA compliant face paint.

Nancy Kartoon believes in Customer Safety. She take great pride in her work and hygienic practices. She always does her best to ensure the safety of her clients, her products, and her work area.

She uses only the highest quality professional water-based theatrical make-up designed for face and body painting. Her products are cosmetic grade, hypoallergenic, and contain only FDA compliant ingredients that have been tested and approved as safe for use on children. This professional make-up even contains an antibacterial agent which helps to prevent the spread of germs.

NANCY KARTOON (and entertainers referred by Nancy Kartoon) DO NOT use acrylic paints or other craft paints on children, teens or adults faces or body.

WARNING: Acrylic paint and craft paints have LATEX in their composition -- many children and adults have life-threatening allergic reactions to LATEX. Some acrylic paints have lead and arsenic in their composition and are NOT meant to be used on skin -- these products are only meant to be painted on canvas, wood, glass and plastics.

NOTE: Non-Toxic does not mean safe for use on the skin. Non-toxic means it is not fatal if the product is ingested.

Only high quality synthetic brushes and cosmetic sponges are used for paint application. Nancy uses the one-sponge per child practice at parties and festivals. All brushes and sponges are cleaned and sanitized after each event. Any application to the lips is done with cotton swabs which are then disposed of.

Only high quality, cosmetic grade, super fine cut, polyester dry glitters and glitter gels are used.

All tattoo inks and adhesives are FDA compliant, skin-safe, Latex free, cosmetic grade products and can be removed with 91% alcohol, or baby oil.

Nancy ONLY use NATURAL henna. Natural henna is a greenish brown paste that is made of essential oils (lavender & tea tree oil), fresh citrus and dried henna powder that is used to “stain” the skin. It creates a reddish brown “tattoo” that can last up to 3 weeks (depending on your skin type).

WARNING: Henna is NOT black. If you ever see someone using black henna, do NOT allow it to be put on your skin. Black henna contains PPD (an ingredient found in hair dye) and can cause 3rd degree burns and liver damage.

WARNING: Brightly colored latex balloons attract the attention of babies and curious children. Young children may suck or bite into a balloon, and fragments of a popped balloon may end up in a child's mouth and be inhaled or swallowed. A balloon fragment could adhere to and/or cover the child's airway, blocking the breathing passage and causing suffocation. Because latex balloon fragments are sticky, they are often difficult to dislodge, even using the Heimlich maneuver will not be of any help. Nancy Kartoon gives a little speech on Balloon Safety at all parties with children under the age of 3. It is the parents responsiblity to WATCH their children around twisted party balloons.

FYI FACE & BODY PAINT

Face “Paint” is not paint at all!  In fact, it’s cosmetic water based makeup.  All of the products used by Nancy Kartoon are FDA compliant and safe for use on skin. The brands that we use are Wolfe FX, Diamond FX, Ben Nye, Kryolan, Paradise, and Snazaroo.  Always make sure that the paint that your child is being painted with is made for use on skin.

Nancy Kartoon & Friends have extensive experience working with children, and adhere to firm guidelines on safe face painting, body art and temporary tattooing.

To Easily Remove Face Paint - Using tear-free shampoo, lather shampoo directly onto skin without water. Rinse, repeat. If a stain remains, apply lotion onto skin. Wait 30 minutes and repeat above steps. Do Not Scrub The Skin, this can irritate skin, even causing soap to soak into the skin, causing it to be itchy and red. Another good way to remove face paints are baby wipes. I use fragrence-free with aloe baby wipes to remove the paint that I inevitably get covered in when out doing gigs. If you are still having trouble removing your art, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Glitter Tattoos - To remove a glitter tat, pour a bit of 70% - 91% rubbing alcohol or baby oil on the tattoo.
This will take the adhesive as well as the glitter right off. I find that removal after shower time to be the easiest, when skin is damp. (Sitting in a sauna or steam room will easily peel a glitter tat right off)

Temporary Ink Tattoos – To remove a ink tattoo, pour a bit of 70-91% rubbing alcohol on the tat, rub area gently with a cotton swab.  This will take the ink right off. I find that removal after shower time to be the easiest, when skin is damp.

Hair Color - Removing the spray in hair color is easy, just shampoo out. Very, very light blonde hair may have a trace of color after one shampoo, so repeat shampoos may be required.

Instant Tempory Tattoos - To get a temp tattoo removed, wipe area with rubbing alcohol or baby oil. Image should remove completely.
